Plant Trees in High Heat-Index Areas in Jackson Ward; Carver; Newtown West & Scott's Addition

This project will plant trees in Jackson Ward, Carver, Newtown West, and Scott's Addition to combat urban heat islands caused by excessive pavement and a lack of shade. Increasing tree cover will lower temperatures, improve air quality, and enhance community well-being.

    PB Staff met with Urban Forestry in the Department of Public Works to help define and discuss the scope of the selected project.

    PB Staff met with the Department of Public Works (DPW) to discuss selected urban forestry projects, including tree planting throughout the Second District. DPW and the Urban Forestry Commission will help refine locations and timelines, guided by the upcoming Urban Forestry Master Plan. Future meetings will determine additional project steps and confirm tree planting locations.
