Plant Trees to Increase Urban Canopy & Shade
This project will plant trees and native plants in vacant tree wells, medians, and green spaces to reduce urban heat, prevent flooding, and create green pathways. Particularly in areas with low income and high heat index ratings.

PB Staff met with Urban Forestry in the Department of Public Works to help define and discuss the scope of the selected project.
10/07/2025PB Staff met with the Department of Public Works (DPW) to discuss selected urban forestry projects, including tree planting throughout the Second District. DPW and the Urban Forestry Commission will help refine locations and timelines, guided by the upcoming Urban Forestry Master Plan. Future meetings will determine additional project steps and confirm tree planting locations.
