Improving pedestrian safety at Humphrey Calder

This project will add a raised crosswalk with zebra striping and flashing lights at Thompson St. and Stuart Ave improving pedestrian access at Humphrey Calder.

PB Staff met with Traffic Operations in the Department of Public Works to help define and discuss the scope of the selected project.

A portion of the work is complete — zebra striping has been added at the intersection of Stuart Ave. and North Thompson Street. Because a traffic signal and crossing light are already present, no raised crosswalk is required at that intersection.

Zebra striping can be added at the crosswalk in front of the Humphrey Calder Community Center at Kensington Ave. and North Thompson St., but a raised crosswalk will require further study by the Fire Marshal due to the proximity of Fire Station 18.
