Install Convex Mirrors at Low-Visibility Intersections

This project will install convex mirrors at key intersections where elevation changes and blind spots create visibility hazards for both pedestrians and drivers. Particularly at the following areas: Exit ramp off Powhite onto Douglasdale / 195 Byrd Park exit/ Parking deck at Carytown Exchange.

PB Staff met with Traffic Operations in the Department of Public Works to help define and discuss the scope of the selected projects.

PB Staff met with DPW to discuss traffic safety around the highway exit near Carytown Exchange. A traffic study can be conducted to better understand operations in the area, but convex mirrors are not recommended for this type of situation. The parking deck is private property, so the City of Richmond cannot install mirrors there.
